Museum Bückeburg for the History of Bückeburg and Schaumburg-Lippe

The museum has been housed since 1905 in the refurbished Schaumburger Hof which was built in 1564. The costumes belong to the most precious objects that are exhibited in the museum and brought up the county's nickname "red robe country". Different features of the Bückeburg, the Frille, and the Lindhorst costumes are shown and handicrafts and trades such as shoemaker, blueprinter, seamstress and embroiderer which are involved in costume manufacturing are presented as well.

Further topics of the exhibitions are prehistory, early history, excavations, dinosaur tracks, uniforms and others.

The history department is dedicated to the regents where also information on the lives of scholars, musicians, painters, poets, and writers that were near to the prince's palace are given.
