City hall and historic market place

The appearance of the Bückeburg city hall is deceptive, since it is just 100 years old. It was built in the Weser Renaissance style in 1905/1906. It houses presently the town administration departments Central services and Finances as well as the leased restaurant Ratskeller and a large theatre. The market place was historically reconstructed in 1994 and was awarded a special prize in an architectural competition.

Numerous citizens made major contributions and significant amount of money was donated for the construction of the city hall. The chairs in the historical chamber which is used today as a wedding chamber were donated by Bückelburg families. For this reason, the names of the families are engraved in the chairs.
